Fixed Bridges
Fixed bridgework is used to replace a one or more missing teeth. A fixed bridge consists of two crowns that go over two anchoring teeth (abutment teeth) and are attached to an artificial tooth replacing the missing tooth. Fixed bridges are highly durable and when well taken care of, will last many years. Replacing a missing tooth has more benefits than simply cosmetic. The bridge restores the normal bite and prevents surrounding teeth from drifting out of position. The process of making a fixed bridge usually requires two or more visits. The teeth are prepared at the first visit and an impression is taken, to be sent to a dental laboratory where the bridge will be made. A temporary bridge is placed and the patient returns in two weeks for the permanent bridge to be placed.
